Creating a healthy pattern instead of routine

Patricia Lavelle, reflexology healing, market harborough, leicestershire, spiritual healing, body, mind and spirit balance

How do you feel when your asked to change your routine? Optimistic? Worried? Maybe you set out with great intentions only to let it filter out after a few months or even just a couple of weeks. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Sometimes, when we embark on a change of routine we forget just how ingrained our old routine actually is.

Our body, mind and spirit holds the memory of everything we do. Which is why our new routines occasionally don’t last through the month. All the choices that went unchallenged for a long time have been disturbed, breaking the flow of a routine that felt comfortable. After all, what we know feels good.

But what if that old routine is actually the bad guy holding you back?

The thing about change is that it doesn’t have to be overnight. You do have the choice on how you incorporate change, so that the old routine begins to incorporate a new pattern. When attempting to overhaul an old routine, slow and steady wins the race. Just by adding one change at a time (and again it’s not about being religious with the change) your body, mind and spirit can gently get on board with a new pattern as it evolves.

The reasons for these changes come in many shapes and sizes, far too many to mention here, but any reason often comes with resistance.

Even if we really want to make the change to our routine, an old pattern will eventually pull you back onto default just because it’s what you’ve always done. And as with anything, the more you practice the more your sub-conscious begins to see it as something that’s here to stay.

When your body, mind and spirit has been doing the same thing for a long time, it’s actually a combined approach that’s going to lead to success. The body needs to feel the benefit. The mind needs to know the knowledge behind benefit/change, and the spirit needs to recognise the shift in energy.

Embody and visualise the change within until the change emanates from you.

Be the change, one day a time

Each day, find a moment to visualise how you want that change to feel. Do you want the resistance to ease? Do you want to look healthier, less stressed? Do you want to feel more energetic? Is there a particular goal that you want to achieve that’s a part of this change? Whatever your answers are, feel them.

Close your eyes for a few moments each day and imagine it’s actually happening right now, for you. You have the benefit, you feel amazing, everyone is telling you of the positive things they see about you. And, you feel brilliant. And remember, a pattern is as strong as a routine, only a little more flexible, helping you stay on track in a way that really works and continues to be sustainable.
